NON-QUALIFYING EVENT: It is with great pleasure that we announce the NONQUALIFYING EVENTS that will be held at the 2009 North Atlantic Regional Figure Skating Championships. This nonqualifying portion of the 2009 North Atlantic Regional Figure Skating Championships (not directly part of the actual regional championships) is designed to give less-advanced skaters an opportunity to experience North Atlantics, and prepare for future competition at the qualifying levels. Please note that the number of entries for nonqualifying events will be limited. Entries will be accepted on a first come – first serve basis. The Jamestown Skating Club will host freeskate and compulsory moves, preliminary and pre-juvenile pairs, and pre-juvenile dance events at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena in Jamestown, NY, Oct. 10-14, 2008. The nonqualifying Events portion of the 2009 North Atlantic Regional Figure Skating Championships is sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating.
We hope that you will enjoy meeting our Jamestown Skating Club families and volunteers and that you will also have time to enjoy some of the unique attractions in our area – Chautauqua Institution, the Lucy-Desi Museum and Memorial Park (birthplace of Lucille Ball), the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, the Jamestown Audubon Nature Center, Panama Rocks Caves, and the Robert Jackson Center.
Nonqualifying Events are open to eligible skaters from Tots to Open Juvenile level, which are members of U.S. Figure Skating in good standing and reside or train in the North Atlantic Region. Eligibility is based on U.S. Figure Skating tests passed as of Sept. 1, 2008. Events will be conducted according to the rules set forth in the 2009 U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook. Skaters may compete in one free skate event as qualified by their test level as of Sept. 1, 2008. In Compulsory Moves, skaters may enter at their level and one level higher.
